I do not make films for any social message but for discussion : Anubhav Sinha

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 14th Jan 2021 : Anubhav Sinha one of the famous writer and director faced the media at 26th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) for his film “Mulk” at Kolkata.

Mulk is a film of 140 minutes in hindi language with a casting of Rishi Kapoor as Advocate Murad Ali Mohammed, Tapsee Pannu as Advocate Aarti Mohammed, Asutosh Rana as Public Prosecutor Santosh Anand. The film “Mulk” is a story on real fact which people are afraid and discussing on borderline story. It is a film of Murad Ali Mohommed and his daughter in law try to prove their innocence after their family gets accused of having ties with extremist groups when Mohammed’s son joins a terrorist outfit.

The director Anubhav Sinha said the media, what do we mean by society? I had neighbours of different languages and religions in Mumbai and while studying at Aligarh Muslim University. The issue of responsibility in intellectual practice is bound to come up in the context of mainstream cinema as we tagged Bengali, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam all as regional. That is why Hindi films are still established as mainstream. Regarding the social message of the film he said, I do not make films for any social message but I do make films for my viewers to discuss.
