Veterans from the Bengali and Bangladesh Film Industry felicitated at the Inaugural Ceremony of the 4th Bengal International Short Film Festival

Kolkata: Sabitri Chatterjee, Utpalendu Chakraborty and Kabori Sarwar from Bangladesh will be among the five personalities to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 4th Annual Programme of Bengal Film and Television Chamber of Commerce (BFTCC).

Stating this, the BFTCC President Firdausul Hasan said: “Like every year we try to honour people who have left their mark in the world of cinema through a varied contribution. This year we are pleased to honour legendary actor Sabitri Chatterjee with the Hiralal Sen Award. We are also honoured to felicitate acclaimed Filmmaker Utpalendu Chakraborty with the Devaki Kumar Bose Award.” Sabitri Chatterjee said, Who doesn’t want to receive awards but when a Lifetime is given to anyone means to retire but I still want to work.

Mr. Hasan also informed that actor Kabori Sarwar from across the border will be felicitated with the Raj Rajjak Award.  Acclaimed film journalist Gautam Bhattacharya will be awarded the Kalish Mukherjee Award. “We have instituted a special award named Information Communication Entertainment will be given to Janab Ahmed Akbar Sobhan”, said Mr. Hasan. For IC catagory Ahmed Akhtar was awarded for Basundhara group. Anjan Bose is awarded for Arora Films.

Journalist Gautam Bhattacharya said, this is the first time I got a recognition as a cultural journalist where I am doing this for long time of my career of 35 years. Every where I have been awarded as a sports journalist. Anjan Bose said our family is attached to the film industry for mor than 125 years and we dont know any other business other than films. I will say to promote more Bengali films.

On the occasion 25 representatives of the Film Federation of India (FFI) were present along with legendary Bangladeshi Actor M.A. Alamgir. Tollywood superstar Prasenjit Chatterjee, along with Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Debojyoti Mishra and Shubha Prasanna were present. So were the author, theatrician and MLA Bratya Basu along with the Minister for Consumer Affairs & Self Help Group Sadhan Pandey.
